On the Fourth of July, 1996, Jeff Jones moved
the Oakland Cannabis Buyer's Cooperative, his medical marijuana delivery
service, into a fifth floor office space at 1755 Broadway in Uptown Oakland.
This historic moment was made possible in large part by Alameda County
Supervisor Nate Miley, who spearheaded numerous resolutions while on the
Oakland City Council, eventually deputizing Jones as a cannabis control officer
in an effort to shield him from federal prosecution.

The Bulldog Coffee Shop celebrated Oaksterdam's 11 year anniversary with a barbecue and live jazz music on July 4th. This date not only commemorates Independence day, but also the landmark day in which Jeff Jones founded the Oakland Cannabis Buyers Cooperative in 1996. Establishing the OCBC broke new ground by providing a safe environment for patients in need of medical marijuana and carved the path for many other cannabis clubs and dispensaries in Oakland, California. The celebration was topped off with an appearance by Jeff Jones himself.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and showed their support. See you next year!
